Margaret and Oswald met in the sun-kissed port of Morocco in 1992. He was a charming sailor, his laughter echoing through the ship's corridors. She was a traveler, her heart filled with wanderlust. Their love story was as vibrant as the Moroccan sunsets, a tale of two souls finding solace in each other's company.

Together, they navigated life's seas, their love a steady compass. He worked for a cruise company, his voice echoing through the ship's loudspeakers, a comforting baritone that filled the air. She was his anchor, his safe harbor. Their love story was a beautiful symphony, played out against the backdrop of the world. They traveled together, hand in hand, their hearts intertwined. But life, as it often does, had other plans. Illness struck, and Oswald's journey ended too soon.

Heartbroken, Margaret found solace in the familiar sounds of the city. She would visit Embankment tube station, her ears straining to catch a familiar voice. There, amidst the hustle and bustle of London, she found a connection to her past. It was his voice, the same voice that had once filled her days with joy.

The "Mind the gap" announcement, a comforting refrain that had been part of London's soundtrack for decades, was now a bittersweet melody for Margaret. It was a tangible link to the man she loved, a reminder of his presence even in his absence.

Moved by Margaret's story, the London Underground staff went to extraordinary lengths to preserve this connection. They tracked down the original recording, restored it, and presented Margaret with a CD of her husband's voice. "We were deeply touched by her story," said Nigel Holness, London Underground director. "It was a privilege to be able to help her in this way."

Margaret's request to restore the announcement was granted, ensuring that Oswald's voice would continue to echo through the station, a timeless reminder of their love.
